A couple years ago I was randomly watching Tom and Jerry when they played this absolutely amazingly ridiculous episode. A deadpan, 1950's voice over narrates as Tom fails to win the love of his sweetheart and ends up sitting on a train track to commit suicide. No joke. Check it out:
