Blog Action Day: Poverty

Blog Action Day is a nonprofit, grassroots movement of thousands of individual bloggers coming together for one cause. Today as many bloggers as possible will post about the subject of poverty. You can learn more here.

It is an interesting exercise. The site explains, "By all posting on the same day we aim to change the conversation that day, to raise awareness, start a global discussion and add momentum to an important cause."

Writing a post is the very least I could do. I don't have any real insight or solutions into the poverty crisis, but I will encourage people to check out Kiva.com, again. It works like giving a loan, except you don't receive any interest. You give people a loan to start their own businesses in developing countries and then they pay it back as their business grows. You don't receive a stake in their financial success, but you do develop relationships with them while helping out the less fortunate.
