A few months back I wrote about Chris Brown and Wrigley's pulling off a clever product placement do to the foresight that his song "Forever" would be a hit. "Double your pleasure/double your fun" can be heard in the chorus. Well now, with the domestic abuse chargers, they ain't so clever. They are suspending the commercials, but they can't suspend the song from playing. It is already in people's iPod's and CD's. If Chris Brown is never able to redeem himself (which seems very likely), Wrigley's will be linked to him for eternity through his song.
I'm not sure how much I feel for Wrigley. I wasn't a big fan of the placement in the first place, but even getting themselves hooked up with a music artist is dangerous. They are always making headlines for the wrong reasons. Not to say they should have known better, but it was a gamble nonetheless.
