Shared Post: TrueCar: Get the Best Deal by Harnessing Actual Sales Data

From http://www.psfk.com/2009/05/truecar-get-the-best-deal-by-harnessing-actual-sales-data.html:

For those unskilled in the nuances of haggling or otherwise nervous about getting the right price at a car dealership, TrueCar, a new online car pricing service, could help tremendously.  TrueCar discovers the price you should be getting by visually mapping price data from around the country.  Through this service, consumers can confidently purchase a car with the information necessary for finding the fairest price. Simply enter your ZIP code and identify the specific model you're looking for and TrueCar will return relevant information like the dealer cost and the average price paid in your area.

The surprisingly free service also utilizes sales history to see if a specific model is falling in price, enabling consumers to time their purchase with the market.  This data aggregate service utilizes 25% of the new automotive sales in the US as their base, challenging long standing resources like the Kelley Blue Book and Edmunds.
